WHAT TO EXPECT ?
Cradled in a protected landscape area, Rebildcentret offers the entire family opportunities for experiences and learning. The unique atmosphere of the Thingbæk Limestone Mines, which provide the backdrop for Anders Bundgaard’s underground sculpture museum, is a must see, but there is more here to see.
Delve deeply in to our various exhibitions, enjoy a break in our outdoor picnic area, and take our trails to explore the nature and landscape surrounding the center.

Thingbæk Limestone Mines - beautiful and a little strange
The limestone mines are the very foundation for Rebildcentret. Back in 1935, when Anders Bundgaard opened the first art exhibition, the limestone mine were still in use for industrial mining. Side by side with the mining, Bundgaard displayed his sculptures and carved a relief into the wall of a mines shaft.
Today, almost 100 years after the mine first opened, the vaulted galleries of the mines are filled with art by Anders Bundgaard and Cal Johan Bonnesen. When visiting the sculptures, you’re accompanied by small bats and you’re surrounded by limestone walls that showcase the geological history of Denmark.
The Center is divided into 2 primary exhibitions, the mines and different temporary exhibitions. The permanent exhibitions and the mines can be seen during all opening hours.

THE COLD WAR EXHIBITION
Explore 700 square meters of military equipment, information about the royal bunker, REGAN Vest and realia from the 1950’s to the 80’s. Learn more about how the mysteries of spies and military actions were intertwined with the private life of those who worked in the royal bunker, and enjoy visiting (or revisit) the livingroom, the technology and the thoughts from the Cold War.

SPRINGS OF LIFE
The area around Rebild, specifically around the valley of Gravlev, is full of natural springs, lakes and creeks. Combined with limestone in the underground and a landscape created by the latest Ice Age, it has become the home of unique flora and astonishing fauna. In the exhibition, “Springs of life”, we zoom in on the many effects the springs have had throughout history and continue to have today.
